I’m proud of myself for not giving up, despite the initial feeling of failure and disappointment. Last week I shared my 1st ever attempt at homemade Apple Cider. I tried the recipe from Gimme Some Oven and though it was ok, it wasn’t to Hun’s liking. Since I don’t personally have many fall/holiday traditions, I really look forward to creating some traditions for our little family. Hun really likes apple cider, so I figured why not make some, it shouldn’t be too hard.
Well, I’m happy to say, it’s not! I went even simpler than the initial attempt. First we went to the store to get some more sweet apples. Then I cut the core out and sliced them in 1/8ths.
Next, I threw them in a pot of water with some cinnamon and let them boil for a bit. After a while, I turned the heat down and let them simmer for a bit longer, all the while stirring occasionally. You could see the color being boiled off the skins. At some point, I put in about a 1/4 cup of sugar.
Drain the mixture into a jug and there you have it – Hot Apple Cider!!
Hun even said he looks forward to drinking more of it. I’d say that’s a win!
