Each Friday I’m talking about changes I’m making in my life towards more wellness. After all, wellness and health isn’t just about going to the gym. It’s not just about physical fitness, it’s also about lifestyle changes or improvements. It’s about overall wellness and how I’m working to achieve more of it in my life.
This last two weeks have been interesting. We’ve not stuck to our choice of less sugar and grain intake. As a matter of fact, we’ve had a grain and/or sugar every day this week. I think we’ve been going through this cycle we sometimes have when things get busy – eat to eat and not think so much about it. This includes one or two fast-food meals, some restaurant meals, and then home cooked food that’s not in line with improving our health and wellness. It doesn’t help that I have flour and white sugar and rice left and I’m not really one to just throw food away. Nonetheless, I think we’re getting back to normal.
We’ve still been purchasing our meat from a local farm family, as well as vegetables and fruits at the farmer’s market. We’re really anticipating being able to move into a place that’s more our own, with more space and the ability to have a deep freezer. We’re getting way too big for the place we live now. Baby Boy doesn’t have much place to play and explore. We’re all literally on top of each other all the time, which isn’t always conducive to being productive or taking a few minutes to recharge or relax. There seem to be delays after delays and sometimes that really wears me thin.
Either way, my hands are still doing well. I use less of the Shea Moisture product now, yet I still only moisturize my hands after they gotten wet from cooking or cleaning. This works out well in general, so I’m pleased.
Even though our food’s been a little off for a couple weeks, I have taken care to take time for me whether through art or reading or (quite a bit) of game playing. Sometimes you just need that. Baby Boy’s potty training is coming along. We’re not pushing it much, so I think that might be why he hasn’t actually gone on the potty yet.
The gym seems like a distant memory to me once again. I’m going to take some time to look at that part of my life and see how I can realistically fit it in again. I miss the gym. I really enjoy working out, I always have, so it’s tough when I don’t and know that I can. Well, that’s where I’m at today when it comes to my health and wellness: a bit of stress about where we live, a regression with our eating habits, still no gym time, yet some down time and taking care of myself.
