Each Friday I’m talking about changes I’m making in my life towards more wellness. After all, wellness and health isn’t just about going to the gym. It’s not just about physical fitness, it’s also about lifestyle changes or improvements. It’s about overall wellness and how I’m working to achieve more of it in my life.
This week’s wellness update will be different. Yesterday, I posted my goal to focus on self-care, bringing me to back to self-love and stopping the journey down the path of self-loathing. This is a different form of wellness, different yet just as important. Mental health wellness truly affects other forms of wellness, so therefore ensuring that I’ve also taken care of this part of my life allows for me to care for other parts of my life. Yesterday’s focus on self-care and relaxing certainly helped to lift the dark feelings I was having. I was calmer throughout the day. I didn’t stress even about the one household business task. I did some work on it and then let it go, knowing I’ll return to it again, likely today. Doing just a little bit of something and keeping the expectation of completing it entirely felt much kinder, yet gave me a sense of accomplishment. I didn’t snap, speak negatively to or of myself, there was no yelling, no anger, and I was able to fully engage with both Baby Boy and Hun.
Although Hun made a decision that we’ll be going to visit family out of state this weekend, I’ve taken that in stride. I honestly am not sure how this will work financially, but I’m letting it go and trusting that it’ll work out. Hun’s point is that we all need a break, we need to get away from where we live – a chance to reset and not focus on the difficulties we’re facing right now. So, today, I’ll do some light preparation of our dwelling. This I will do one step at a time, while also continuing to care for myself in other ways. Today, I’ll be sure to engage in good more good for me activities and keep my expectations down.
Today’s post is rather short and not very detailed. My head is still a bit cloudy, so I’ll go and take more time devoted to caring for my mental wellness.
