Each Friday I’m talking about changes I’m making in my life towards more wellness. After all, wellness and health isn’t just about going to the gym. It’s not just about physical fitness, it’s also about lifestyle changes or improvements. It’s about overall wellness and how I’m working to achieve more of it in my life.

Last week, between getting out of my depression and being a little under the weather, I completely neglected to post an update on my wellness journey. Nonetheless, being back in the swing of things a bit this week, I’m here to talk about what progress, if any, I’ve made lately.

Did you catch the ‘if any’ phrase in that last paragraph? Yeah, that. I’m not so sure I’ve made any progress actually. I have been drinking water and making flavored herbal teas and lemonade at home. I haven’t been taking any of my vitamins or supplements lately. I’m not sure exactly why. Well, I’m sure I can come up with some lame excuse like, “I forgot” or “I was busy with Baby Boy”, both of which would be true, yet not. See, I’ve been taking a daily vitamin and other supplements for more than a little while, so these are really just excuses. Like when I was still newly postpartum and I’d say, I didn’t take my vitamins or my placenta pills the last few days and then follow that statement up with, I guess that might explain some of why I’m lower than I was. You’d think I’ve learned my lesson about taking vitamins and supplements from past experiences. Well, I guess I haven’t. It’s probably a phenomena somewhat similar to a person who takes a prescription medication for say a mental illness feeling a bit better and thus slacking off on the frequency with which they take that medication. Yeah, the effects are sometimes subtle, yet they’re there nonetheless. So, what’s my rambling point here. I will take my vitamins and supplements every day starting today. We’ll see how that declaration worked next week.

We haven’t been the the farmers market in a few weeks, mostly due to travel and thinking that our favorite meat farmer isn’t there during the week. This is actually something Hun and I disagree on, yet we haven’t gone on a weekend, when we know for sure she’s there, to ask. We’ll likely be going this weekend though. You might wonder where we’ve gotten our food lately then. The answer is Whole Foods. There happens to be one in town and so we go there and buy meat and a couple vegetables for the week. Hun’s also been able to get the creamed milk, too. Baby Boy gets his ‘cookies’ and I can get the reverse osmosis water too, so it works for everyone. I will clarify that even when we go to the farmers market, we make a quick trip for some of the above items. Either way, we have been eating, despite not going to the farmer’s market!

Unfortunately though, nothing much else has really changed. We’re still searching for a place for our family to live and that’s been taxing enough. In case you missed it, this has also been a factor in my depression lately as well. Either way, looking back I guess there hasn’t been a regression when it comes to my wellness, so I guess that’s progress, eh?

Tell me, how’s your wellness journey going? Have you had any pitfalls lately? What are some things you do to keep at it?

As I sit here sneezing my head off, I’m thankful to have read this post. I haven’t been taking my supplements, ACV or tea lately and whatever probiotics I choose to take only serve to offset my blatant indulgence in foods with gluten. The effects of not being more vigilant about keeping my immune system in tip top shape isn’t painful right now, but I can definitely feel the subtle effects. It’s the calm before the storm but I won’t let it get that far…and neither will you. 🙂
