I recently had the opportunity to review a great blogger’s book, Capture Your Life.  Cole Nemeth of Peace and Chaos is a really fun blogger, sharing her life as a Mom, photography, and art.

What a wonderful book this is. Not heavy with the technical nature of photography, yet still filled with tons of great information.  Capture Your Life is a great place to start in learning about light, texture, shapes, portraiture, and so much more! Cole’s writing style is easy to read and learn from, while also being friendly and conversational.

As I read through the book and worked on the prompts, I felt as though Cole was with me, encouraging me to try.   Making mistakes isn’t something that happens, or so I felt anyway.  Another great thing is that she doesn’t care whether you’re using a regular point and shoot or a fancy camera.  It’s not about the camera, it’s about your eye in the world and seeing the beauty in everything.

The prompts are buried in the actual content of the book.  This makes it even more fun to go through, in my opinion.  Plus, the activities and ideas to discover your own creativity through photography are so fun!

Here are some of my photos from the prompts:

Light

morning, sun, light, photography

morning, sun, trees, sunrise, treetops, photography, light

Color, Texture, & Shape (3 lessons)

And, a great perk is that she has a private Flick account if you want to share any photographs you’ve taken. Don’t stop after reading Capture Your Life, but go out and continue capturing your life. Have fun and know that Cole is encouraging you no matter what you do with your photography!

Grab the book Peace & Chaos or at Cole’s Etsy shop.  Capture Your Life will be available beginning on Sunday, March 1st.

Cole is so wonderful that she’s offering a giveaway AND the week of the launch (March 1-7), you can buy Capture Your Life for half off at only $5 (CDN)!!  And, along with the great prompts in the book, she’s also including a prompt checklist to help you in capturing your life!
