As I’m sure many who have bought a house know, everything is a work in progress.  Our primary focus originally was the inside of the house.  Since I’m pregnant, most of our indoor updating is on hold.  And, of course we’ll be nursing again, so our updating will remain on hold for the forseeable future.  We don’t want to put much up on the walls, just to take it all down again when we finish the painting of the doors, trim, and hallway.  Then, there’s the issue of the floor needing refinished, so….for now I’ll dream up some designs for our patio.

Right now, our patio is a solid slab of raised concrete.  Though it’s a great place to go sit or even draw on with chalk, it isn’t anywhere near its full potential.  Hun and I have talked about extending the patio slightly with a wooden deck.  We’re thinking a few wood steps with planters and a nice railing on the two sides.  Unfortunately, I didn’t find a picture that really shows what our idea is.  Nonetheless, I did find the Home and Patio Decor Center.  Some of their prices might be a bit extreme, but I did find some nice furniture for our yet to be completed and designed patio.

Knowing me and how frugal Hun and I both can be, we’ll be looking at some of our other options, but these are just a few of my ideas.  We like to keep our tones pretty neutral, with pops of bolder colors thrown in.  And, since we avoid plastic, if we can, I’ll have to search for just the right dishware.  I certainly like pops and hints of color amongst the dark.   I’m partial to a nice bold red, a bright orange, or some yellow.

But, the selection at the Home and Patio Decor Center is pretty nice, they have rugs, tons of furniture options, other decor, lighting, and even bedding.  Just click here to see for yourself.  Plus, they offer free shipping on all orders, so why not browse for something new to add to your home.

Have you designed your patio?  What color choices do you favor?  What home projects are you ready to tackle?

We’re still renting, so big renovations aren’t really an option (although I’d love to peel off the wallpaper!).

My hubby and I were discussing how we’d like to decorate our balcony. We wanted to get a nice conversation set with a love seat, chairs and coffee table, along with an outdoor rug and umbrella. That didn’t end up happening this year, but maybe next year!

Sounds like a great idea to me….and useful when you might need to move and/or have a place you can do more with! I have found that everything about making a space/home really ours takes more time (and money) than I realize in the beginning. Maybe it’s the perfectionist in me lol 🙂

I think you have picked a lovely patio furniture and decoration set. I like the natural colors giving a relaxed and calm look. I absolutly love the chairs. They could offer a comfy seat for you to enjoy long dinners in the summer breeze.

I have a lot of dreams for our future garden. One is having a large hammock where the whole family can rest in the shade 🙂

Ooooh, I love the idea of a hammock where the family can rest together! Interestingly enough, we just saw a neat hammock in a store the other day…we didn’t buy, but definitely will keep in mind! Natural colors really have so much relaxation in them for me. Besides, I think it’s easy to add a little tiny pop of color so there’s a bit of invigoration going on, too. BTW, I can’t wait to share more pictures of our newly/in progress garden spaces! 🙂
