It’s amazing how much time has already passed in this pregnancy! 30 weeks, means there are only about 10 weeks left. That’s still a good 2 1/2 months, but whoa, the time is flying by! What’s even more amazing is

Wow! Look at that belly! Sure seems like Baby is beginning to run out of space to do as many tumbles, though trust me, there are plenty of pushes and rolls and kicks!

How the Baby and I are doing:

Physical – I’m still doing pretty well. There are times when I almost forget I’m pregnant and need to move a bit differently, but overall there aren’t any major complaints. I am having some hip pain, usually after I’ve been sitting or lying for too long. Applying some counter pressure generally helps. My daily “uniform” at home is getting to be a bit uncomfortable, just because my usual few go-to t-shirts are getting tight over the belly. Also, I am having a bit of trouble with my carpel tunnel. It’s usually worse in the morning, but also if I try to use my wrist much for any crafting activity it can start to bother me. So far, on occasion I’ll take extra B6 during the day which helps to some degree.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t report that I haven’t stuck to doing Pilates. I do enjoy it and know it helps. Somehow I got off track, busy weeks gone by. That really shouldn’t be my excuse and I’m not using it as one, since I’ve had plenty of time to get back into a routine. As for other physical activity, there’s been house cleaning and playing in the yard with Baby Boy and Hun.

My weight gain has been steady and is still around what I’d expect. I’m +/- 175 now. I think that means I’ve gained about 30 lbs. at this point. I’m still not concerned, nor is our midwife, plus my blood pressure remains in a good range for pregnancy.

Mental – I’m still feeling open and free mentally and spiritually. A couple weeks ago I was really ornery and irritable. That seems to have improved and I’m not entirely sure why I was in that space. I’m looking forward to sitting down with our doula and talking about birth in the next week or so. We keep mentioning we need to schedule something and then keep forgetting. Besides, I need to make sure she can attend one of our appointments with our midwife pretty soon.

Emotional – Again, doing well. On occasion, I can still get pretty emotional, but not so much that it’s incredibly noticeable for Hun. I am feeling connected to Baby and am always really pleased to feel Baby’s movements during the day and in the evenings. I’m overjoyed that I can share this part of pregnancy with both Baby Boy and Hun. I just love the look and sounds of amazement from Hun when he gets to feel Baby move! I’ve recently relayed the internal/thought message to Baby that I do love him/her and am anxious to meet him/her whenever s/he arrives.

Symptom Management & Diet – Again, no difficult symptoms to report. Like I said, Baby Boy and Hun can feel the Baby move. I’ve noticed that Baby’s movements are different than they were when I last wrote an update on our progress this pregnancy. Baby’s movements are more rolling and pushing, less bouncing and kicking. To me, that’s a positive sign that Baby is progressing as expected in terms of growth!

Nothing new in the breast department. If I wear a bra for too long (like all day), when I take it off, I can definitely feel the weight and slight sensitivity, but it’s nothing unmanageable and goes away within a few minutes. It’s time for me to consistently expand my bra strap…again!

Food intake is going well. I’ve recently started taking in a bit more dark leafy greens, lentils, and also an alfalfa supplement. This is to help my platelet count. I’m usually a bit on the lower end, even when not pregnant or breastfeeding, so it’s important to keep an eye on this during pregnancy. A lowered platelet count can lead to hemorrhaging after birth. Our midwife will take another blood draw at our next appointment, so we can see where I’m at and what other things we may need to look at to help keep that count up a bit.

Thankfully, my water intake is excellent! I’m still getting about 100oz. or so a day. I’m enjoying a cup (or two) of juice after dinner when I take my multivitamin, as well as a homemade electrolyte drink, or some herbal tea (not with hibiscus or bergamot though). I have been indulging a bit with sweets, usually ice cream or a milkshake, maybe even some brownies (yum) lately!

As a family….there’s nothing much of note here. We’re all anticipating meeting Baby. Hun and Baby Boy both talk to Baby at times, which just makes my heart swell and I’ll even tear up on occasion. I feel so blessed to have my family and love how we all stay well connected to one another. Sometimes, it really does seem that Baby responds to be talked to by Hun or Baby Boy. I am just over the moon about that, too!

As for Baby Boy’s connection to this baby, it’s still amazing. He loves to touch, rub, hug, and kiss Baby. Sometimes he wants to play a bit rough, but is pretty quick to calm down and be “gentle” with a reminder. On occasion, when Baby Boy is really pushing my buttons and throwing tantrums or otherwise yelling, I remind him that it scares the Baby and he’s (almost) always immediately apologetic.

Baby Boy still does some suckling in his sleep and is quite interested in wanting to touch the “milk”. He also is quite keen on stating that the milk comes when the Baby gets here. So, we still think we might be tandem nursing, which will be its own adventure.

In other news/Baby Prep – I haven’t started working on sewing cloth diapers. I want to specifically focus on getting at least 10-15 of the smallest size and maybe a few more mediums. Baby Boy is doing really well with potty training and really only wears a diaper for bed or if we expect to be out of the house for many many hours. Baby Boy loves to let us know that he’s used the potty and helps to clean it out, too. I’m glad potty training has gone so well for him!

We did go out of town to see family and our new niece in July. That was so much fun! I think there’s even a picture somewhere of our new niece and Baby hanging out together! I need to see if I can get a copy from my sister-in-law.

I have started working on a blanket for Baby. Things are a bit slow going with the carpel tunnel, but I’m able to power through a bit when I do sit down. I need to get moving though, that’s for sure. 10 weeks are going to fly by and there’s still so much more to do!

As for the kids’ room. We’ve made slight progress, in that we’ve actually cleaned it out, re-laid down the carpet and hung the curtains.

My dad gifted us with a nice table he didn’t want any longer and that will become our changing table. I’m going to sew a cover to go over the top and keep our changing pad from slipping. Once I get that done, I’ll be sure to post some pictures. 

We also have a nice toy chest and another night table that need new hardware!  The night table will get a nice sanding and some new stain, too!

P.S. I promise not to go as long between posts from here on out, because things can really start to change quickly as we get through these last 10 weeks and gear up for Baby’s arrival!

      Jessica, make no mistake, I get pretty tired lol! It’s not easy to want to nap with Baby Boy running around, but I definitely take one more days than not lol 🙂

    Wow, 30 weeks!
    I had carpal tunnel too with my second, but it didn’t last long. It was just a few days, which was weird. I would have thought it would have come and go.
    I have done two maternity shoots in the last few weeks so I have bellies on the brain. It’s wonderful!

      Awww…maternity shoots have got to be fun (not that others aren’t, they’re just a different kind of special)! Some days the carpel is worse than others, but overall still fairly manageable. The mornings can get Very tricky though…

    Glad your pregnancy is going well. Tandem nursing and sewing your own diapers?! I am impressed and in awe! We used cloth diapers, but I just bought them online.

    Not long now sweets, you look glowing. It’s so exciting. I love the countdown last ten weeks flies by. With my son I didn’t loathe it but went two weeks over due so was anticipating his arrival but with my daughter she came almost a month early so my ten weeks was only six and what a surprise. I love that you never know how and when they will come and it’s all so exciting. I spend the last weeks getting ready and nesting and doing pregnancy yoga for energy and I even did zumba but not recommend if you haven’t been doing it the whole time but loved it helped me.
