I’m Kendall, a North Carolina Stay-At-Home Mother of 2 boys (Monkey Boy – 2013, Turtle Boy – 2015) and Heart-Wife to Hun. I was once a single professional who wore slacks, button up shirts, and suits managing multiple lives and family systems. I helped them learn new skills, how to advocate for themselves and make choices to live a better life.
Now I manage only 4 lives (mine, the boys, and Hun) as our family Chief Home Operator. Daily, I’m finding this job much more difficult, time-consuming, self-neglecting, and emotionally and physically challenging that the one in which I’d trained and studied for years. Today, I sacrifice more than my time and energy than I ever did before and so much more than I ever thought I would.
I’ve come to realize that every day really is different and beautiful if only I choose to see those parts. In Mothering, I’ve discovered my creativity and work to harness and express it. I do this for myself, but also for the boys.
I may not have in-depth conversations with others on how to change their lives anymore. Instead, I’m often heard saying the basics over and over again. I no longer guide adults in making better choices for themselves and their families. Now, I guide my boys in what it means to live, to grow, to experience, and to love one another well. I guide my boys on the simple tasks of sleeping, eating, cleaning, learning, sharing, loving others, and being kind.
I do my best to incorporate our family rhythms into routines to help our lives run smoothly, so we don’t run completely out of money, food, or love for one another. Hun and I together work at keeping our relationship strong despite not having nearby family or friends. Much of the time I think I’m not managing any of my tasks well until I step back and look at what’s working. I’m constantly making adjustments to our routines, often incorporating spontaneous or almost spontaneous adventures into our lives.
Shortly after Monkey Boy was born and I became a Stay-At-Home Mom and I started this blog. I didn’t know what I was doing, I simply needed to do something! I wasn’t even sure what I wanted to talk about, but I needed a place to go and be. I needed a way to find connection and community, advice and reassurance. Eventually, I realized that I wanted to offer those things to others, as well.
That is what Life Breath Present is all about – finding myself as a Mother, Wife, and Creator.
Every day is both the same and quite different as I parent these boys, work to educate them and create a home for our family. We believe in eating wholesome foods, living naturally, experiencing life together, working hard, breastfeeding, adventuring, and self-discovery and growth. All of this and more I express within each post.
My hope is that you’ll find my posts and our lives encouraging, inspiring, and helpful. I’d love to gather with every person that visits this space and just chat. Chances are if we met, I’d freely give out hugs as we talked about life and living, exploring, sharing, and encouraging one another. So, consider each post my understanding hug to you.
